Industrial Robotic Systems: The Implications Of This Technology On Society

In the future, artificial intelligent robots may take over many of the routine jobs that people do today such as those involving food processing, product handling and inventory control. This is because of two factors: robots are much more efficient than humans at certain tasks, and humans are starting to become so dependent on technology that they start to lose touch with what is actually important in life. Thus, robots may soon replace many employees in human resource departments as well.

What are these types of robots? Basically, a robot is a self-contained unit designed to perform multiple tasks automatically; a robot may be robotic-capable of doing many tasks, or it may be programmable by an electronic controller unit. In other words, it has some computer that “runs” on its own without any human guidance or interaction. In fact, computers that are programmed to perform specific tasks can perform those tasks without human intervention for many years.

The robots we see today have been developed through the years as a result of research and development. Robotic engineers and technologists have always worked on improving robots for various industrial applications. They first developed the autopilot cars, then the autonomous navigation and landing vehicles; now, they are working on fully autonomous machines, such as the artificially intelligent Robotic Mining Excavator and Robotic Tractor. As we can see from these examples, the development of robots has been continuous throughout the history of technical industry. Here are some of the most popular types of robots being used today.

The first category of robotics is the ones that aid humans in their daily tasks. Examples of these are the wheeled chairs, artificial limbs, power armors, wheelchairs, artificial arms and even artificial hands. Robotic arms are used to pick up dropped items or to pick up and manipulate items placed on robots’ arms.

The second category is that of machines which are not humans but are artificial. Examples of this include the Roboscope, Robutor, Robotic broom and other devices. The third category is that of machines that perform tasks which do not involve direct human interaction. Examples of these are automated software programs, automated warehouse systems, ATM machines and cellular phones.

The fourth category of robotics is that of robotic process automation. The main purpose of this type of robot is to aid manufacturing processes by performing tasks which are generally considered to be man-made but are not actually done manually. Some examples of this type of robots are actuators, drilling equipment, welding machines, food chopper and the like.

The fifth type of robots are the intelligent robotic systems. This type of robot will become smarter than humans, as it learns from its past mistakes and continues to make improvements. It is, in fact, similar to the artificial intelligence system developed by NASA. Examples of this intelligent robot are artificially intelligent robot, smart dust and the like.

Finally, the last group of complex tasks robots were made to do are those required for a complete machine or structure to work. Examples of these complex tasks are the assembly of airplanes, tanks or other construction equipment, installation of communications cables, downloading of information from remote computers and much more. These complicated tasks require industrial robots. As you can see, industrial robots have definitely changed the way we live by performing several complex tasks in our lives.

It is clear now that robots are playing a greater role in the world today than ever before. They are not only limited to simple tasks anymore. Today, we can say that they are playing major roles in both the physical and the technical domains. And we can further assert that they are playing a more important role than humans ever thought they would, especially in the field of business.

In fact, there are more types of robots being developed nowadays than what were envisioned even five years ago. Just to give you an idea of the innovations being tested in the field of robotics, let’s take the example of artificial intelligence or autonomous operation of a machine. Just a few years ago, this type of technology was only possible to expect from a robot, let alone an autonomous one. However, with the development of robotics technology, this capability has now reached near reality. Now, even a child as young as seven years old is capable of operating a remote-controlled helicopter and it is already being used by hobbyists. And if we talk about applications in space, then this technology will soon turn into reality and robots will take over the job of protecting human beings from outer space, from space or from a hostile environment.

Robotic systems have also been developed for tasks such as picking up dropped items and picking them up again. They are also utilized in picking up small packages and putting them in a bigger package without damaging them. Some are even capable of identifying different types of foods and their ingredients by just watching them. Another use of industrial robots is their capability of performing assembly jobs. There are many more where these capabilities can be put to, which all indicate that robots have been developing at a faster pace and the possibilities of robotic applications are limitless.
